Play Ball!
This week, I made the biggest announcement yet on Breaking in the Habit: Fr. Tito and I will spend summer 2022 traveling the US to visit every MLB park and preach at churches. It’s going to be amazing. More details in this week’s video and on our new page. If you’d like to invite us to speak at your parish or organization, let us know by filling out this form.
Life is like a box of Chocolates…
… is a really weird famous saying. You always know what you’re going to get with chocolates. It’s on the box. But it’s said by a wholesome simpleton, so we let it slide. Such is Forrest Gump in a nutshell. Wholesome. Endearing. Memorable. And filled with things that just aren’t right. Fr. Tito and I like much of the movie, but there are definitely some problems with it.

What would you ask God?
This is the question posed by the Christian movie An Interview with God. Admittedly, it’s not a great movie by cinematic standards (I did say it was a Christian movie…) but it does pose some interesting questions worth discussing.
What Vatican II Actually Did
Vatican II is blamed for a lot. Last year I made a video called Stop Blaming Vatican II in which I defended the council against the ways it’s misinterpreted and used as a scapegoat for all of the Church’s ills. In this video, I try to get to the heart of the council, arguing that its aim was simple: to commission the laity.
Worth a Repeat
Every once in a while, it’s great to go back and rewatch an old video. This week, I want to recommend one of my favorite videos, Christianity. Pure and Simple. Too often we get caught up in things that don’t matter, and I want to challenge us to focus on what does.
Hope everyone has a great week! Peace and good,
Fr. Casey
Brother, Father, Casey! Your content redefines “amazing” upward; for example, the baseball tour’s dedicated page on this blog, linked by you above, is spectacular. Thank you, well, infinitely for all that you do! At present here, I’ll copy-&-paste the following reply which I’ve just posted to the comment thread of your upcoming tour’s YouTube video, in response to a misinformed soul: “@56pjr Brother or sister, the Catholic Church is simply the Universal Church founded by Christ Himself, which is clear from Scripture to all with eyes to see and ears to hear. The Church is 1,500+ years older than any Christian denomination. Notice that I don’t say ‘older than any *other* Christian denomination’, because the Catholic Church is not a denomination; she is the original Church, imperfect, of course, in the flaws of its members, but absolutely no more so than any denomination. Protestantism abandoned the Church rather than building Her up, rather than choosing to overcome the human failings. Christ substantively present in the Blessed Sacrament, much as in the case of other wonderful truths of the Church, couldn’t be more plainly stated than in Matthew–in Christ’s own red-lettered words. Brother or sister, please come home to the Church, the home which very possibly you’ve never inhabited, yet truly is your home. Our brother, Father Casey, and other faithful disciples who are the opposite of modern-day Pharisees, lay out all the necessary justification for your return, based in Scripture and tradition dating clear back to the Apostles. ‘Peace and good to you’, as our friend in Christ, Casey, says.”
You have to commend Casey on his cleverness, he is very good at using his position/the catholic church to enable his personal wants and dreams. On the other hand it is shameful because his job/position is suppose to be an important and serious one, not one for his own personal dreams and ambitions. You should have chosen a different profession rather than exploit god and religion.
